What is Shinrin-yoku?

Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is a technique that Japan introduced into its health system in the 1980s to reduce the high levels of stress in the population.

According to the father of this therapy, immunologist Qing Li, taking in, with all of one’s senses, nature strengthens the immune system, reduces stress, and lowers blood pressure and heart rate.

Connecting with nature

We live in a world where everything goes way too fast, and to immerse oneself in the » forest atmosphere» means taking a quiet walk, listening to the birds, feeling the wind, touching the water, smelling the tree trunks, or as the Japanese say, enjoying the komorebi, which means «sunlight filtering through the leaves of the trees’.

Awakening the senses

This is not about long walks or extreme physical exercise. It is something much more relaxed: a short and quiet walk along a track that will help you to disconnect and reduce stress. It is all about awakening your senses and harmonising with nature.

Before the session you can take a test to measure your level of stress, anxiety, exhaustion etc. After finishing the session you will be able to see the difference. Many of our guests who have visitied the «Forest of the fairies» tell us that there is a before and an after.

Other activities around the B&B

Our guests, children as well as adults, like to join us when it is time to tend to the animals.

At night, Monfragüe (where the Palacio Viejo de las Corchuelas is located) is one of the very best places in Spain for stargazing.

We abide by the «from farm to fork» principle; nothing beats picking the tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, peppers that you are going to have for dinner.
